Chili Powder

Chili Powder – Inspired by Allrecipes

1 tablespoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground chile peppers* (more if desired)
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

In a small bowl, mix together paprika, cumin, chile peppers, kosher salt, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and oregano. Grind finely with a coffee grinder, if desired. Store in an airtight container.

Equivalent to approximately one store-bought pack of chili powder.

Note: This recipe asks for actual dried and toasted chile peppers. I prefer guadjillo or ancho, but any pepper can be substituted here. Pick your favorite or a blend depending on your heat or flavor preferences.
