California Blend Casserole

California Blend Casserole – Christopher Rieger

16 oz package frozen California blend
4 oz American cheese (Velveeta-type)
1/4 cup milk
4 slices bread, chopped into small cubes
2 tsp Italian seasoning (or a mix of basil, oregano, thyme, and marjoram)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tbsp butter, diced

Preheat the over to 375 degrees. In a medium casserole dish, place the California blend, cheese, and milk. Microwave on high for 5 minutes until cheese is melted. Stir to combine the milk and cheese. In a separate bowl, toss the bread cubes, spices, and butter until the cubes are coated. Spread the bread cubes over the top of the vegetables and place into the oven. Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until the bread is toasted.
