Rice Pilaf – Christopher Rieger

2 cups long grain rice
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 1/2 cups water
2 teaspoons chicken base
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

In a medium saute pan, melt the butter and gently saute the onions and garlic until softened. Deglaze the pan with some of the water and place all ingredients into a rice cooker with at least 6-cup capacity. Place the cooker into the white rice program and cook unit cycle has completed. Fluff rice with a fork and allow to settle a few minutes before serving.
